A new suite of original compositions by Dunedin Jazz Club director Bill Martin will feature in a performance by Dunedin outfit Big Jazz Apple this weekend.

The six originals, titled "Dunedin Blues" and featuring music inspired by local landmarks, will be showcased at Princes St venue Moons on Friday night.

The Big Jazz Apple lineup for the show will comprise Martin (tenor saxophone), Jesse Kokaua (guitar), Andy Lunch (bass) and Carl Woodward (drums), whose performance will cover a range of genres, including bebop, blues, waltzes, ballads, polyrhythms and bossa novas.

Alongside the new works, the group will perform well-known jazz standards.
