It has been several years since Auckland-based jazz ensemble Nairobi Trio have played in Dunedin — a city that holds a special place in their hearts.

Guitarist John Quigley briefly lived at 660 Castle St in the early 1960s, when his parents were flatting while at university.

So Quigley and bandmates Richard Adams (violin/vocals) and Aaron Coddel (bass/vocals) are really looking forward to coming back to Dunedin for a show next Wednesday at the Regent Theatre.

With 10 albums under their belts and more than 35 years of national and international touring experience, Nairobi Trio has spent much of last year and this year reconnecting with their audiences across New Zealand and abroad.

Described as New Zealand’s favourite "jazz entertainers", the Nairobi Trio have played in all manner of settings — vineyards, village halls and theatres and festivals.

Their international touring has taken them around the world 20 times.

Always playing to the crowd, the Nairobi Trio showcases skilfully crafted original material, reimagined standards, and popular tunes delivered in a dynamic engaging live show.
