Football: Technical signs off with win

League champion Dunedin Technical completed a comfortable 3-0 win over Roslyn-Wakari at Ellis Park on Saturday.

The club concluded its league programme and gained 90 valuable minutes of pressurised football before this Saturday's South Island championship clash against Mainland league champion Ferrymead Bays.

Roslyn-Wakari started slightly stronger in the opening exchanges.

After a scoreless first half, the match opened up in the 50th minute, when Roslyn keeper Peter Evans gave away possession to Aaron Burgess and the lethal striker converted the golden opportunity.

Ten minutes later, Technical doubled the margin after a strong left-side run by Nick Hindson and a crisp byline cutback saw Brad Rodden knock in the second. Burgess completed his double in the 75th minute after receiving a quality knockdown and dispatching a 20m shot into the left-hand goal corner.

Caversham jumped above Mosgiel to claim second place in the league after a commanding 3-0 victory over a depleted Spirit team.

Ant Hancock struck the first in the 27th minute with Darren Overton and Evan Jones adding second-half goals to conclude their 2011 campaign.
