Queenstown drivers' reckless reversing

At 11.20pm on Thursday, two vehicles in Church St were reversing at the same time, with the drivers unaware of each other.

Sergeant Steve Watt said the result was a collision in which both vehicles received minor damage.

• An 18-year-old Invercargill man who had driven to Queenstown with his friends was found to be "extremely inebriated" and was taken to the Queenstown police station for detoxification.

Sgt Watt said the teenager had been in an argument with his friends and spent from 1am until 7.30am at the police station.

• A 21-year-old woman from the United States was seen outside the Mountaineer building entrance, urinating on the path.

She was arrested and released with a pre-charge warning.

• A 21-year-old German man was arrested after an alleged attempt to steal $15 worth of chicken from Fresh Choice supermarket at 8.30pm on Thursday.

The man will be appearing in court, charged with theft.
