Emergency services are at the scene of a serious crash beteen a truck and a tractor on State Highway 1, about 3km north of Hampden.
It is understood the driver of the truck had to be cut from his vehicle. He was flown to Dunedin Hospital.
The road has been closed while emergency services deal with the people involved and the vehicles.
Due to the location of the crash, no detour available for other motorists and police are asking that people exercise patience.
