A one-match ban has been imposed on a North Otago cricketer following a code of conduct hearing about "seriously offensive" behaviour.
North Otago Cricket had a hearing last week following an incident during a Borton Cup match between Union and Albion on November 9.
New Zealand Cricket (NZC) chief executive Scott Weenink this week confirmed a hearing had taken place.
Mr Weenink said the player had admitted a "level two offence", in breach of a rule within the NZC code of conduct, where the player had used "language seriously obscene, seriously offensive, or of a seriously insulting nature to another player".
Mr Weenink declined to comment further on the incident.
Alongside the player’s one-match ban, Union were also docked a competition point.
Albion club president Ricky Whyte declined to comment, referencing NZC rules about speaking about a code of conduct matter.
North Otago Cricket chairman Peter Cameron also declined to comment.
