Former Iraqi soldier Najeeb Dawood has pleaded guilty to murdering his wife at their Wellington home.
Eman Jani Hurmiz, 41, died from multiple stab wounds in the driveway of her suburban Strathmore home last September 2.
Dawood, 51, pleaded guilty through an Arabic interpreter at his first appearance in the High Court at Wellington today.
Dressed in a grey T-shirt and black jacket, Dawood also pleaded guilty to wounding with intent to commit murder.
He is yet to enter a plea on charges of threatening to kill, possession of a weapon and assault on a child relating to an incident in November 2010.
Justice Warwick Gendall remanded Dawood in custody until his next High Court appearance on May 14.
Dawood was found mentally fit to stand trial in February after two psychiatric assessments.
