One of three men charged with murdering 23-year-old James Ellis last year has pleaded guilty.
Peter Richard Holmes (26), Mark Robert Carruthers (18), and Dean Robert Carruthers (48) all appeared before Justice Whata in the High Court at Dunedin a short time ago.
Holmes was the only one asked to plead to the charge that on April 15 last year at Warrington, with the other two men, he murdered James Mathew Ellis.
He pleaded guilty, was given a three strikes warning and remanded in custody for sentence on August 16.
The other two men, father and son Dean and Mark Carruthers were further remanded for trial in Wellington in July.
