A 28-year-old man has been arrested for the murder of an intellectually disabled woman in Upper Hutt.
Mary Donnelly was found in her Ebdentown St flat by family on August 30.
The man Upper Hutt man was charged last night and will appear in Upper Hutt District Court today.
"We have worked tirelessly over the past 21 days to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding Mary's death. Whilst there are still a number of enquiries to be undertaken to establish all of the facts, we are pleased to have made an early arrest," Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Thornton said.
Further inquiries into Ms Donnelly's death were now focused on the movements of a man seen at her flat the day before her death, Mr Thornton said.
Ms Donnelly was living independently at her flat but had the support of a caregiver and her family.
