The Boss is unlikely to sing in Dunedin on his visit to New Zealand in March next year.
Bruce Springsteen's March 1 Mt Smart Stadium concert sold out in less than an hour yesterday and it was rumoured promoters were looking for another stadium to host a second concert.
Forsyth Barr Stadium chief executive Darren Burden said he had not been contacted by Springsteen's promoters and the venue had not confirmed any concerts between now and March.
A Facebook page had been launched by Dunedin marketing manager Chris Green, who wanted support to get The Boss south.
''It is a tough ask to get promoters to get the band down here.''
The Facebook page had 2355 likes yesterday after being created a week and a-half ago.
Mr Green said the idea was to get one of his favourite singers to Dunedin, but also to help boost the city.
''Big events do well down here. I love Bruce Springsteen. No-one does events like Dunedin does.
''I would like to see big events in the city. We've got a magnificent stadium.''
Mr Burden had noted the support for the Facebook page and said he would contact the promoters within the next week.
''Never say never. There is clearly an appetite in the South for him to come and play.
''As ever, we are always in discussion about any opportunities of upcoming tours.''
Springsteen and his band's tour schedule had no dates after the Auckland event.
