The Outram Flower Show was an "amazing day", bringing in a large number of new exhibitors and a strong turnout from interested locals.

Organised by the Outram Garden Club, the flower show was held on a very hot day, February 14, at West Taieri Rugby Club .

Show convener Denise Chaplin said the show was one of two major events run by the club each year — the Outram Spring Flower Show in September and the Outram Summer Flower Show in February.

"We have been thrilled with how popular the flower shows have been, with more and more people coming forward to take part," she said.

"Despite the wet and windy summer, we had some good days which really brought the flowers on."

There were many spectacular blooms among the entries, including dahlias, roses, lilies, gladioli, chrysanthemums, geraniums, sweet peas and hydrangeas, she said.
