Northern Mystics
Placing: Sixth
Record: Two wins, nine losses
It was a slow start to the season for the Mystics, but they are a much-improved side. In 17-year-old goal shoot Grace Nweke they have unleashed a big, strong and dynamic presence in the circle.
Northern Stars
Placing: Third
Record: 6-6
Now in their third season, the Stars have jumped from last place to a nearly secured playoff spot. They score well and have an accurate shooter in Maia Wilson. In Temepara Bailey and Leana de Bruin they also boast a duo with years of experience.
Waikato-BoP Magic
Placing: Fourth
Record: 4-8
At times the Magic has shown its capability, but it has lacked in consistency. It has a quality defensive end in Casey Kopua and Kelly Jury, while Sam Sinclair adds grit and energy in the midcourt. To make the playoffs it needs to win all its remaining games, while relying on the Stars to not pick up another point.
Central Pulse
Placing: First
Record: 11-0
The Pulse remains unbeaten and the clear top team. Its intensity and toughness is a level up from the other sides and has quality right through the court. While Aliyah Dunn scores at a high rate, the defensive end remains its biggest weapon, conceding just 42.4 goals per game.
Mainland Tactix
Placing: Fifth
Record: 3-8
Injury has hampered the Tactix after last year's historic playoff appearance. It still possesses one of the best defenders in the premiership in Jane Watson, while retaining a big target at the shooting end in Ellie Bird.
