A soldout Queenstown Events Centre will get a glimpse of the new-look Southern Steel tonight.
The Steel continues its pre-season against the two-time ANZ Premiership defending champion Central Pulse.
The sides will meet twice in Queenstown tomorrow.
The first will be a match at 11am behind closed doors, before a public game at 6pm.
It is a new-look Steel team, meaning the pre-season will be of more importance than usual as it looks to embed combinations.
However, it will be without English shooter George Fisher. She arrived in New Zealand on Saturday and has begun two weeks in isolation before linking with the team.
The Steel will also hold training sessions for school-age players in Wanaka and Alexandra, tomorrow and Saturday.
It follows last week’s pre-season matches in Timaru, in which the Steel were well-beaten by the Mainland Tactix in two games.
It lost the first game 64-45 and then went down 63-47 in the second game. The Steel tried different combinations and had a couple of players injured who did not take the court in Timaru but will look to get better against the Pulse.
The ANZ Premiership’s traditional pre-season tournament will be held next weekend in Otaki.
The season begins on April 18 when the Steel faces the the Tactix in Invercargill.
