Better Dunedin than Adelaide.
That is probably how the Canterbury Tactix are viewing their game against the Adelaide Thunderbirds at the Edgar Centre in Dunedin on Monday night.
Ideally, the franchise would have played the fixture in Christchurch or Nelson. But with the CBS Canterbury Arena and Trafalgar Centre unavailable, the Tactix had to look at other possibilities, including playing the game in Adelaide.
Happily, the Edgar Centre was available. The Steel will play just two games in the city this year, so the extra game should be well-received by netball fans.
It is a rare opportunity to see the Thunderbirds, who have been setting the pace this season with eight wins from nine games.
The match, though, might not be too dramatic. The Thunderbirds have dominated the fixture, winning all five games between the sides, and will start as hot favourites, having won their last seven consecutive games.
The Tactix are at the other end of the standings, with two wins from eight games. There have been 16 ANZ Championship meetings between New Zealand and Australian sides so far this season. The Australians have won 13 games.
Thunderbirds defender Sharni Layton is poised to play her 50th ANZ Championship game.
