Taieri 256 beat Albion 101

Taieri are one more win away from a flawless one-day campaign.

They dispatched Albion by 155 runs at Brooklands Park on Saturday and remain undefeated in the format this season.

They will host Green Island at the final in Mosgiel on Saturday and will start as firm favourites.

Taieri all-rounder and captain Beckham Wheeler-Greenall helped secure the monster win against the Eagles.

He ripped through the lower order, grabbing five for four.

Toby Hart (two for 34) and Ollie Shore (three for 14) also did sterling work.

Albion was rolled for 101.

Only opener Ethan Price (41) could make much of a dent with the bat.

But arguably the game was won with the bat.

Taieri posted 256.

Ruben Clinton (31 from 51), Cameron Elliott (38 from 69) and Shore (38 from 38) all made valuable contributions.

But Kevin Loggenberg starred with 61 from 76.

Tommy Clout was the pick of the Albion.

He took three for 46 from nine overs.

Green Island 181 beat University-Grange 122

Green Island No9 Mayank Malhotra swatted 54 from 43 balls to help set up a 59-run win against University-Grange at Sunnyvale.

The Swamp Rats had slumped to 112 for seven and he counterattacked to get them through to 181.

Joel Meade played a part in the recovery with 34, and Regan Cairns struck 40 at the top.

But Jack Ussher was dominant with the ball for Grange.

He claimed four for 21 and benedict Hardie and Zac Cumming picked up two apiece.

Grange was unable to put together a significant partnership and were dismissed for 122.

Cumming top-scored with 30 and the 19 extras were the next leading contributor.

Veteran left-armer Blair Soper took four for 25, while Otago all-rounder Jake Gibson (three for 30) and Hamish Wilson (three for 23) had a telling impact.

North East Valley 179 lost to CDK 180/8

CDK edged North East Valley by two wickets in a tight encounter at Tonga Park.

The Swans stumbled through to 179.

Travis Muller (30 from 49) and Sam Johnson (29 from 71) battled hard in a stand of 57 for the fifth wicket.

But the bowlers were in control of this fixture.

Ishaan Silva broke the key partnership and finished with four for 27.

Nick Tapper mopped up the tail.

He took two for 31.

The Hounds crashed to 23 for three and were in trouble.

But Tom Jones (51 from 70) and Mason Gain (27 from 59) dug in and added 76 for the fourth wicket to get the chase back on track.

Will Jones’ knock of 32 from 35 got them closer to victory.

Muller completed strong match with four for 31.

But his efforts were not enough to prevent the Hounds finishing their season with a win.
