The women's twenty20 competition will feature two double-headers in conjunction with the HRV Cup this summer.
The schedule for the women's twenty20 and one-day tournaments was announced yesterday and the Otago Sparks will essentially play a curtain-raiser for the Otago Volts at the University Oval on January 12.
The Sparks play Canterbury in the late morning-early afternoon and, at 3pm, the Volts will host the Central Stags.
Northern Districts' match against Auckland at Hamilton's Seddon Park on January 10 will also be followed by an HRV Cup fixture.
The Sparks open their campaign with a twenty20 game against Northern in Cambridge on December 6 and then play back-to-back one-dayers.
Their first home games are at Molyneux Park on January 2-4 and the following week they host Canterbury in Dunedin.
The format this season is for teams to play a twenty20 match, usually on a Friday, and then two back-to-back one-day games.
There is an 18-day break between rounds one and two to accommodate the women's under-21 tournament in which several domestic players will feature.
The one-day final is on January 25 and the twenty20 final is planned for the following day.
The two top-placed teams from each format will contest the deciders.
