Otago's all time leading wicket-taker, Stephen Boock, will be honoured during the association's test dinner on December 5.
Iain Gallaway and Glenn Turner were previously honoured with a dinner in their name for their contributions to Otago cricket.
Boock was a very worthy recipient, Otago Cricket Association chief executive Ross Dykes said.
''Of the living Otago legends, along with Glenn, he probably has the best record,'' Dykes said.
''He certainly has the most first-class wickets.''
The left-arm spinner boasts an impressive first-class record for Otago. Boock took 399 wickets in 88 matches. He has taken 112 wickets more than Alexander Downes (287) who is No 2 on the list, and only Wellington's Ewen Chatfield (403) has taken more wickets for one province.
Boock took 640 first-class wickets in all - 74 of those in the 30 tests he played. He also took 15 wickets in 14 ODIs.
He went on to serve the game in retirement and is the president of New Zealand Cricket.
Former Otago Daily Times journalist Richard Boock - Stephen's brother - will be joined by Sir Richard Hadlee and Chatfield in paying tribute to Stephen's contribution to Otago cricket.
Former New Zealand cricketer turned broadcaster Simon Doull has been lined up as the after-dinner speaker.
The West Indies and Black Caps are expected to arrive in Dunedin on December 1 for the first test, which begins on December 3.
Star West Indies batsman Chris Gayle could be sidelined after suffering a tear in his hamstring during the first ODI against India earlier this week.
