Rangatahi Zone returns to Bluff for a third year of fun and inspiration.

The free, two-day festival, takes place on October 7 and 8 across multiple venues in Bluff.

The event is designed to empower and inspire young people aged 10-18.

The Tuurama Trust is presenting the event with the support of more than 80 local organisations and an army of 120 dedicated volunteers and workers.

"I’m so excited to see Rangatahi Zone returning for its third year," Synergy Services general manager and event lead Sumaria Beaton-Sikisini said.

"This event is a testament to the incredible support we have from our community.

"We’re committed to providing a safe, fun, and enriching experience for Southland youth.

"I encourage all young people to come along and explore their passions, make new friends, and create lasting memories."

Rangatahi Zone began as "a way to help youth in the region grieve as they had experienced many tragedies [in 2022], including a car crash that killed four young men in March at Queens Park, Invercargill".

Cultural activator Jay Coote said the activities were a way to give local youth "a bit of inspiration and healing while they had fun".

Participants at the last two Rangatahi Zones commented that the events were fun, engaging and included a wide variety of activities.

The zones rangatahi can expect this year include kai, mahi toi, te ao Maori, wairua, action and sports, technology and beauty.

"Rangatahi Zone is more than just an event; it’s a celebration of our youth and their potential," he said.

"We believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to explore their interests, build their confidence, and connect with their community.

"We’re committed to making this event a truly unforgettable experience for all participants," Mr Coote said.

An additional 80 local organisations are contributing by donating resources, equipment, food, activities and their time.

Bluff kaumātua will also be present, offering their wisdom, connecting with the rangatahi and testing out activities.

Rangatahi are encouraged to register for free bus tickets so they can hop on the transport that will available at four locations around Southland.

"We broke down all barriers so our rangatahi would not miss out on attending and that is why we have provided free bus travel so they can get to and from the Rangatahi Zone," Ms Beaton-Sikisini said.
