A 24-year-old wanted man has been arrested in Invercargill in relation to a shooting in June.

The Armed Offenders Squad assisted with the arrest warrant on Miller St about 11am today.

The man was wanted in relation to the Kelvin St shooting on June 30.

Police were not seeking anyone else in relation to the incident.

The man was due to appear in the Invercargill District Court today charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Police blocked off the street from Tweed and Lindisfarne Sts this morning, and road spikes were used.

It was the second armed incident in four days after police also surrounded a house in Mavora Cres on Friday afternoon.

Police later confirmed the Mavora Cres callout was in relation to Anthony Miles Tamaiti Watkins.

Police had been searching for him in relation to a shooting in Kelvin St in June.

Police thanked the Invercargill community for their assistance.
