Every week, Leader readers make loads of nominations for the Silver Fern Farms Local Legend and this week’s winner is Balclutha Cross Recreation Centre manager Noelene Scott.

"That community facility is her baby and she goes above and beyond ensuring it’s managed and run to the absolute best standard, which our community is privileged to benefit from," Noelene’s anonymous nominator said.

"She’s been in her job more than seven years and not a day’s gone by she hasn’t done or thought of something for it. [It’s] big hours all days of the week and she always does it with a welcoming smile."

Mrs Scott is also on the board of NetballSouth and Clutha Development executive and gives time coaching netball for a local club and the high school.
