Winners all at auction for Angus

Arrowtown and Queenstown businesses have shown generosity and donated several packages and prizes to be auctioned off next weekend at the Angus Beaton fundraiser in Arrowtown.

Angus (4) was diagnosed last month with soft-tissue cancer that has spread to his lungs, and he, his parents, Fritha and Gordon, and sister Kate remain in Christchurch Hospital for Angus' chemotherapy treatment.

The family have been told Angus will be in Christchurch for the next six to 12 months.

The small community has rallied to raise funds through a donation account - and, on Saturday, May 26, a fundraiser evening at the Athenaeum hall in Arrowtown.

A good friend of Mrs Beaton, Lisa White said the support had been "absolutely amazing" and she hoped for a big turnout next weekend.

Donations for the evening auction include art by Sheila McLean, a framed print of a Michael Smither work, packages from The Hills and Over The Helicopters, season passes from Cardrona and NZSKI and accommodation packages from Millbrook, Crowne Plaza, Peppers Beacon, Arrowfield apartments, Arrow Hotels and Stonehouse Cottage.

All the alcohol for the evening had been donated by local wineries and local bands Swamp Donkey and the Lynch Mob will entertain.

"The whole community has been amazing. We have never seen anything like it," Mrs White said.

Tickets can be purchased for $25.
