Height of fundraising

Four members of the Brent family completed the equivalent of two ascents of Mt Aspiring yesterday - inside Auckland's Sky Tower rather than on the mountain.

In a Breast Cancer Research Trust fundraiser, breast cancer survivor Anna Brent, of Wanaka, climbed the tower's 11,000-plus steps twice, her husband Dave climbed the tower 10 times, her son Allan climbed the tower 16 times - equivalent to one full ascent of 3033m Mt Aspiring - and her other son, David, completed four climbs.

Other celebrity climbers were part of the event and Mrs Brent said she believed $14,000 had been raised.
