Organisers announced the line-up this week. The tour will return to Cromwell for the second year at Olssen's Vineyard, the nearest venue to Wakatipu.
Gin will sing hits I Do, Oh My, Under My Skin and Black Sheep from her debut album Holy Smoke, as well as new tracks from her new album Gravel & Wine, recorded in the United States and to be released on November 7.
"I grew up as a big fan of Don [McGlashan] and the Mutton Birds so I am excited to be on tour with them," Gin said in a statement.
"And Avalanche City are so hot right now. It's a great bill. We're on the road for a month in summer and I can't wait to play in some of New Zealand's most spectacular outdoor settings and drink a few glasses of wine."
The Mutton Birds celebrate two milestones as 2012 will 20 years since the release of the band's self-titled debut album and 10 years since their last show. McGlashan, Ross Burge, David Long and Alan Gregg will reform just for the winery tour and are expected to play the songs they are best known for, including Anchor Me, Dominion Road and Nature.
McGlashan said he was looking forward to getting together with the guys.
"A band is more than just a bunch of musicians. When it really works, there's a magic there which is more than the sum of its parts. That's certainly the way it was with the Mutton Birds, and it's going to be great to take the beast out of the garage again and make the gravel fly."
Tickets go on sale on the winery tour websites, Ticketmaster and Ticket Direct on November 7, with an early-bird offer of $59 plus booking fee, ticket only, for November. Cost will increase to $69 plus booking fee from December 1.
One child under the age of 12 will be admitted free when accompanied by one adult ticket holder. Snag Bus will offer a return service from Queenstown with stops in Frankton, Lake Hayes and Arrowtown Junction for $40.
