Jazzfest to hold inaugural street parade

Queenstown Jazzfest is taking live music to the masses, in a debut street parade to be held in the middle of the three-day festival at Labour Weekend.

The vibrant and colourful display of music and movement is expected to star about 100 Queenstown and Remarkables primary school choristers, drama pupils, talent contestants and band members.

The street parade is one of the highlights of the festival, which has been given a deliberate grassroots community focus by its organisers in its 34th year.

The parade is co-ordinated by Sunny Sky, of Exposure Talent and Model Agency, with teachers Fiona Stephenson and Lisa Moore.

Participants will gather at the band rotunda in the Queenstown Gardens on Saturday, October 20 at 11.30am.

They begin their parade journey at 11.45am and walk along the lakefront to the stage, where they will entertain at Earnslaw Park from noon to 2pm.
