Queenstown senior captain Jarred Andrew said his side was "hoping to go one better" in the 2010-11 season, after finishing runner-up to Alexandra in both competitions last year.
Queenstown and Alexandra will contest the cups with Cromwell, Wanaka's Albion, Ida Valley's Blackstone Hill, Dunstan - which is back after missing last season - and a wildcard squad from the Queenstown community 20/20 competition dubbed the Slope Hill Cricketers, that will compete in the Scurr Cup.
With four or five players involved with the Otago Country Hawk Cup side, Mr Andrew said the club sometimes struggled to field a side.
"Anyone who is interested ... can come down to training.
"We tend to struggle for numbers. We've got four or five players in the Otago country Hawke Cup ... so even if people don't want to play every week there's still an opportunity.
"Every game is taken very seriously but there's also a very social element to it," he said.
The season starts on October 30, with the round-robin 20/20 competition, which runs for four weeks before the 50-over Koford Cup begins, with eight weeks of play before reverting back to the final month of the Scurr Cup.
