The inaugural Queenstown Bike Festival was launched in extreme style on Saturday with the six-hour Super D enduro race in the Ben Lomond Forest.

About 60 competitors in teams and as individuals competed to complete the most laps of the course, which ran from the top of the hill and down through the forest, with cyclists riding back up on the gondola.

Queenstown Times reporter Joe Dodgshun took his camera along to capture some of the racing.
