• After many reports of motorists driving the wrong way up a one-way street outside a Queenstown daycare centre, Queenstown police are regularly patrolling the street.
Acting Sergeant Phil Hamlin said Henry St was one-way and signposted as such but people were choosing to access Ballarat St by driving the wrong way.
Drivers were probably trying to avoid a busy roundabout on Shotover St, he said.
It was a dangerous place for such behaviour and, if caught, offenders would be fined $150, Sgt Hamlin said.
• At 1.15am yesterday, the security alarm at Joe's Garage was activated and police found a window latch had been forced. The bar's manager was alerted and he confirmed nothing in the bar had been touched. Police are checking CCTV footage and inquiries are continuing.
• Between 4am and 5am yesterday, a 19-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were arrested for fighting. The man had left his wallet at McDonalds, in the O'Connells Mall, and it was later brought out by a group of women.
An argument ensued when he claimed money was missing. Acting Sergeant Phil Hamlin described the fight as minor and no injuries were sustained. Both people were released, after being given pre-charge warnings.
