Queenstown police enjoyed a quiet weekend, the biggest incident coming when a Malaysian couple's car rolled on Saturday, after they attempted to drive up the Skyline Gondola access road, following the car's GPS.
Acting Sergeant Terry Wood said that at 12.30pm the couple had stopped the car, with the transmission still in drive, and when the driver turned the engine off, the car slid on the shingle off the edge of the road.
No-one was hurt.
• Earlier that day, at 2am, four people, one from Christchurch, were charged with fighting outside Winnibagoes.
• At 4am, a Queenstown man was tested for drink-driving, recording 697mcg in an evidential breath test.
Acting Sgt Wood said the man, who supplied false details, was a disqualified driver and police were making further inquiries.
• A domestic dispute at 6.40am between a Gore couple holidaying in Queenstown led to the 26-year-old woman being charged with common assault.
• Later that day, at 5.30pm, a man who allegedly broke a sign on the Ladies Mile Highway, was charged with wilful damage.
• At 12.50am yesterday, police charged a Wanaka man with disorderly behaviour over an incident outside the Camp St 24-7 Dairy.
• Early yesterday, a restaurant employee was allegedly slapped across the arm and head by a male customer, who then left.
Acting Sgt Wood said police would be reviewing CCTV footage and following up the incident.
