Following the success of the Cancer Society's inaugural Relay For Life event in Oamaru in March, in which 54 teams raised $75,000, organisers have confirmed the event will return next year.
North Otago Relay For Life volunteer committee chairman Matt Haywood said the team event would take place at Centennial Park on Saturday, March 16.
Two separate events would be held next week to launch registrations, at the Oamaru Opera House on Tuesdayand the Kurow Memorial Hall on Wednesday.
"The committee are looking to engage teams including business, community groups, families and schools," Mr Haywood said.
Relay For Life event manager Tammy Jackson said the 24-hour team relay was open to everyone, regardless of age or fitness.
It was a way to raise funds which would allow for development of support services and health promotion resources in North Otago and for cancer research, she said.
