The Christchurch Meccano Club, which was formed in 1929, was invited to join local enthusiasts and children from Weston School to put on a display which will take place at the Northern Hotel on Saturday, November 17 and Sunday, November 18.
Working models and displays of historical sets will be on show, and Weston schoolboy Roman Johnston (17) said he was delighted to be able to show off five of his own creations at the display.
He said he spent four hours a week building Meccano models after his grandparents gave him his first kitset when he was 6.
"I've been doing it ever since."
The display will also bring to fruition a six-year project with local enthusiast Ross Mitchell to create a 2m model of a Port of Otago crane, he said.
