There was no pattern to prices - a relatively new fax machine selling for $1 and a printer-fax-scanner going for $2, in contrast to children's blackboards which fetched up to $15.
One of the more expensive items was a Flymo petrol-powered rotary mower which sold for $120.
The equipment, ranging from outdoor gear to desks, chairs and even crayons, was from the Hakataramea Valley, Otematata and Kurow Schools which amalgamated to form Waitaki Valley School.
Some was surplus to requirements because of a $3.9 million redevelopment of the Waitaki Valley School, due to be completed for the beginning of the first term next year.
There was also an open day for the partially completed new development, a chance to see proposed landscape plans for the school, and a pet parade.
