AOS callout

A 38-year-old Oamaru man faces four charges after the Dunedin armed offenders squad was called out to Oamaru on Thursday night.

The incident started after the back door of a Taward St house was smashed.

About 9.30pm police from Oamaru and Hampden, along with the armed offenders squad accompanied by a police dog, surrounded a house in Thames Highway, Detective Sergeant Mike Ryder said yesterday.

Just after midnight, the man inside the house surrendered to police.

He has been charged with burglary, threatening behaviour, possessing an offensive weapon and intentional damage.
