Alleged drink-driver charged after Oamaru crash

An intoxicated Christchurch woman who allegedly crashed her car into a parked vehicle in Oamaru yesterday was more than four times over the legal breath-alcohol limit.

Police were called to the crash in Orwell St about 10.35pm.

A police spokeswoman said the 38-year-old was detained on suspicion of drink-driving and a breath-alcohol test returned a result of 1051mcg.

Her driver’s licence was suspended for 28 days.

The woman was charged with driving with excess breath alcohol and careless driving, and is scheduled to appear in the Oamaru District Court on February 5.
