Breen Construction workers are this week removing material from the Bannockburn Hotel Restaurant and Bar, which was engulfed by fire and had to be closed on September 25.

Builders started removing damaged material from the building on Tuesday .

Most of the ceiling was damaged when the fire - which started in the kitchen about 1pm - spread across the entire roof.

At the time, staff and patrons were evacuated from the premises.

No-one was injured.

Within days of the blaze, insurance assessors and fire safety investigators examined the building, which suffered structural and smoke damage.

Publican Dave Gillespie said he was still not sure whether the pub would be demolished and rebuilt or repaired.

Insurance broker firm Crombie Lockwood was dealing with the matter, he said.

A firm representative could not be contacted for comment yesterday.

Mr Gillespie has established a garden bar in the outdoor area of the pub for the business to continue operating.
