Angela Smith, 42, and Mark Hamilton, 50, both realised a lifetime dream when they achieved black belts in their respective martial arts last Saturday.
Both had committed to a year of intensive training with Kman’s Martial Arts chief instructor Kman McEnvoy, at his club in Cromwell.
Hamilton started judo 33 years ago and had been a brown belt for 30 years, while Smith started taekwondo 12 years ago and had been a brown belt for nine years.
Neither of them had graded to black belt due to life, business and family commitments.
McEnvoy said the pair had displayed discipline, trained hard and made the sacrifices needed to earn their black belts.
"I am so proud and honoured to have trained both of them to achieve their lifetime dreams and realised their potential," he said.
