A proposal for further hydro-electricity generation at the Talla Burn Stream near the Beaumont Millennium Track in the Teviot Valley has attracted only two sub-missions.
One individual in support of the development and one in opposition were the sole submitters registered by the Central Otago District Council before the closing time of 4pm yesterday.
Talla Burn Generation Ltd applied to the CODC for a certificate of compliance for an existing 33kv power line measuring 9.2km.
It also applied for land use consent for a proposed additional power line of the same size and generation capacity, to transmit electricity between the Talla Burn site and Ettrick sub-station.
Talla Burn, which is still under construction, was established in 2007 when the Hore and Wilson families joined forces to develop a small hydro-electric scheme capable of producing 2.6MW.
Situated on Beaumont Station about 20km from Millers Flat and 10km from Beaumont, the run-of-river scheme utilises a maximum water intake of 1.5cumecs as permitted by natural flow.
Talla Burn's second power line is proposed to carry electricity between the north end of the Millennium Track and the Ettrick substation on Clutha Rd.
Its existing line is located between the Talla Burn site and north end of the Millennium Track.
A CODC hearings panel will consider the application and corresponding submission at a meeting in Alexandra, which is yet to be scheduled.
