A planned five-allotment subdivision above Cornish Point Rd in the Cromwell Gorge has been scaled back to three by the Environment Court.
Cornish Point Developments Ltd had applied to the Central Otago District Council for consents to create five allotments of 15ha-28ha at Cornish Point on land which was within the council's rural resource area and subject to subsidence or slippage as well as high voltage line hazards.
Four allotments were to be residential with dwellings erected on site.
The land had been used for agricultural grazing and horticultural cultivation.
The application for consents included earthworks to provide services and amenities to the site.
In July 2008, the council refused all consents.
Cornish Point Developments appealed to the Environment Court.
This month, Environment Court Judge Jon Jackson ordered consents be granted for a three-allotment subdivision with dwellings on each site, subject to 80 conditions.
He otherwise dismissed the appeal and made no order for costs.
