Pupils showing style on ice

Secondary school pupils from Central Otago, Auckland and Dunedin are showing their curling style at Naseby this week.

More than 45 pupils from around the country are participating in the 2008 New Zealand Secondary Schools Curling Championships, which started at the Maniototo International Curling Rink yesterday.

This is the first time Naseby has hosted the national event, contested this year by 12 teams of four curlers.

Auckland schools entered seven teams in the competition, with the remainder coming from Dunedin (three teams), and Central Otago (two).

Eight boys' teams are vying for the top spot, while four girls teams' are fighting it out for the top honour.

The competition finishes today.
