The pool complex was closed on July 20 so almost $30,000 of repairs and maintenance could be carried out.
Initially, the work was expected to take two weeks although the wrong-sized replacement part for a heating system, as well as other hiccups, resulted in a delay.
Central Otago District Council district aquatic centres manager Gary Easthope said the delay was "regrettable" but could not have been avoided.
"It is all par for the course. As soon as you find one thing [needing to be fixed] you tend to find another thing," he said.
Work was on schedule until the wrong-sized custom-made replacement heating element was delivered, and a plant failure in the air heating system meant another custom-made part had to be ordered.
Yesterday, Mr Easthope said the main pool had not yet reached its usual 28.3degC, but that was likely to happen this week.
Once the pool was up to temperature, things would be "business as usual", he said.
Last month, the Vincent Community Board decided to spend $27,000 on repairs and maintenance to pool liners and tiles.
Earthquakes and kayak polo players had cracked and chipped tiles around the pool, which cost about $7000 to repair or replace.
Maintenance was also overdue and the lining of the learners' and main pools needed to be replaced, costing about $20,000.
Other work included painting and servicing of the filtration plant and heating unit.
Mr Easthope said measures were now in place to prevent kayakers chipping tiles.
