Alexandra's historic bridge piers are now officially owned by the Vincent Community Board, which will work with other groups to raise funds to upgrade the structures.
A working group was established in 2005 to progress a restoration and maintenance project of the piers, during which questions of official ownership were asked.
At the community board's meeting on Monday, members resolved to acknowledge ownership of the piers, on the basis of historical data available.
It was also decided the board would endorse the efforts of the working group, and thank members for their years of volunteer service to the conservation of the piers.
The board will continue to support the group in its work towards a conservation plan which will set a blueprint for any future work on the structures.
