Cromwell will begin hosting the fifth season of Central Otago's Farmers Market from Labour Weekend.
The market, which offers fresh produce, including organic, grown locally, will officially start its fifth year on Sunday, October 26.
Market spokeswoman Jane Shaw said a loyal base of market supporters had grown during the past four years, from within and around Cromwell.
"We have a strong base of stallholders . . . turning up religiously each Sunday during the market season.
"We also have loyal farmers who regularly come from Queenstown and Wanaka, as well as from Alexandra and Clyde, to buy local wine, beer, and produce and soak up the atmosphere," she said.
Mrs Shaw said market numbers typically peaked during the summer school holiday period in January.
She said the return of seasonal Vanuatuan workers was greatly anticipated, as they often sang at the markets, busking and providing entertainment for produce buyers.
The Central Otago Farmers Market runs every Sunday from 9am to 1pm, from Labour Weekend to the end of February.
Stalls provide a wide range of produce including wild game, locally made salami and smallgoods, fresh fish from Dunedin (weather permitting), and local bread, cheese, vegetables, fresh flowers, preserves, wine, beer, eggs, stone fruit, juice, olive oil, plants and organic dairy products.
