Injured Clyde man on the mend

The family of a Clyde man badly injured in a car crash near Alexandra on June 4 are thrilled with his recovery and hope to see him home soon.

Peter Douglas Wilson (52), had to be cut from the Ford Laser he was driving when it collided head-on with a small security van on State Highway 8 between Alexandra and Clyde.

Mr Wilson was in an intensive care unit at Dunedin Hospital but has been moved to an open ward and was recovering quickly.

Pene Clarke, the partner of Mr Wilson's brother Chris, said Mr Wilson could be moved to a rehabilitative centre in Dunedin within the week.

She and Chris have visited him at least once a week since he was admitted to hospital and have watched him become bright and animated.
