Cromwell cafe gets consent

A new lunch bar and cafe is set to cater for Cromwell's expanding industrial area and its workers.

Applicant Coronet Property Management Ltd secured resource consent from the Central Otago District Council for its proposed 40-seat lunch bar and cafe, which will be situated within the recently-built Cromtrade complex fronting Barry Ave and McNulty Rd.

Consent was granted subject to eight conditions including restrictions on seating and car parking.

Its hours of trade were set as 7am to 7pm daily.

A commercial kitchen within the Cromtrade unit would also be used for an off-site catering business, which had previously been granted consent.

It may be used 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Traffic engineers noted the proposed development would be used by many patrons who would otherwise obtain food from further afield, in turn reducing vehicle movements in the area during lunchtime.
