Committee gains three members

Cromwell basin residents Pam Forster, Wayne Winskill and Dick Cornick were elected to the Cromwell and Districts Promotion Group management committee at the group's recent annual meeting.

They joined the committee's existing members Adrian Somerville (president), Shirley Howard (vice-president), Terry Emmitt (secretary), Ken Scott, Helen Scoles, Cliff Crawford, Gary Anderson, Graeme McDowell, Elisabeth Williamson, Mark Knox and Janeen Wood.

Businessman Allan Dippie was the guest speaker at the meeting.

The group is involved in surveillance at the Cromwell Mall, Christmas decorations in the town centre, Cromwell sport competitions, a national cherry-stone-spitting contest, and fireworks displays.

It also represents Cromwell at the Canterbury A and P Show in Christchurch each year, and supports other Cromwell groups.

In Mr Somerville's report to the group, he said funding had been slightly down on previous years but the group would still be involved in many activities.
