The show's title had me thinking about wines that seem to embrace the mood of summer, and the cheekiness of Compo himself, with Rose being a prime contender.
A trio of pinot gris, too - possibly a bridge into autumnal choices: their juicy fruit an echo of summer's (now fading) warmth.

Pale peachy pink. Lifted bright nose, strawberries & cream with savoury hints. Immediately appealing. Lovely fruit intensity, a delightful tangy (almost spritz) note coursing through the wine, a stony/schisty element too. The flavours carry through to the long finish, the wine with a sweet fruit core, yet finishing refreshingly dry.
Delightful, and real appeal.

A hint of burnt toast leads, moving into ripe apple and pineapple notes. The palate adds hints of apricot, showing fruit sweetness yet this finishes just off-dry. Zesty acidity gives a salivatory aspect to this as the wine dances in the sweet and sour spectrum generated by a tangy grapefruit element.
Fresh and easy drinking.

Nicely varietal nose of pear and stone fruit with hints of gumdrop. A rush of fruit sweetness on the front palate; fruit jubes, dried apricot, pear, snapped into line by zingy acidity which allows it to finish dry. Excellent texture; ripe fruit flows through to a long finish.
Wonderful freshness, a good food choice.

Slow out of the blocks with notes of pear and hay but blossomed with time. Intensely textural, and viscous with powerful notes of pear drop, savoury nuances and almond-like bittersweet hints. A rush of flavour, freshened by acidity, with fruit pithy chewiness adding texture.
Sheer pleasure in a glass.
