On the beat: Not a 'nice sight' for town

Police made few arrests in Queenstown during the weekend.

The first was about 6pm on Friday when an intoxicated man (55) was found asleep on the grass verge of Ramshaw Lane in Arrowtown.

"He was very intoxicated, fell asleep on the grass, and had urinated in his pants - not a particularly nice sight for tourists,"said Acting Sergeant Tracy Haggart.

A 22 year-old Queenstown man was arrested at 12.50am on Saturday outside Subculture on Church St, after he was refused re-entry and he attempted to push past and verbally abused door staff, Acting Sgt Haggart said.

The only other action came from a play-fight between two males in Surreal bar at 4.55am "which got a little bit out of hand", Acting Sgt Haggart said.

"They were treated by ambulance staff at the scene, and inquiries are continuing into that."
