Wildlife hospital recruiting

Dunedin's Wildlife Hospital is seeking the help of students to keep its new facility running.

The Wildlife Hospital Students' Association will be recruiting new volunteers throughout Orientation to support the hospital.

Since opening last month, the facility has treated dozens of injured birds, including a rare takahe.

The student group will have a stall at clubs day today, joined by two Highlanders.

The event will be held in the museum reserve, or in the University Link in case of rain.

In a statement the hospital said the group would offer games and spot prizes, including coffee and food vouchers donated by AllPress, Vogel St Kitchen and the Good Earth, as well as passes to Orokonui Ecosanctuary.

The Highlanders, who have entered a ''community partnership'' with the hospital, would also give signed merchandise away.

Members of the group were a ''friendly bunch'' and welcomed anyone to approach them with questions, the statement said.
