The kiwi stars of the New Zealand made comedy-drama The Map Reader were in Dunedin yesterday for the New Zealand premiere of the film at Rialto Cinemas.

The film tells the story of Michael (played by Selwyn), a 16-year-old who tries to escape his life in small-town New Zealand by immersing himself in a world of maps.

His isolation is interrupted by the arrival of two young women - Alison (played by Hutchison), a peer of Michael's, whose grace betrays other darker secrets, and Mary (played by Shortland Street actress Bonnie Soper), who is 20 and blind from birth.

The film also stars Rebecca Gibney and Michael Hurst, and screened to a sell-out audience at the world premiere at the Austin Film Festival.
