Failure to place order leads to arrest for breaching bail

A Dunedin man was not loving it when his trip to McDonalds came with a side of justice.

Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond, of Dunedin, said police were called to George St at 8.20pm on Sunday after an allegedly intoxicated man parked his car on the footpath outside McDonalds.

The 32-year-old man entered and attempted to place an order. However, he was unsuccessful and left the store.

He was later located in Moray Pl at a liquor store and arrested after breaching a bail condition — not to consume alcohol.

He then assaulted the officer by spitting in his face.

Upon arrival at Dunedin Central Station, he underwent drink-driving procedures.

The man provided a blood sample, and police are awaiting results.

He was charged with resisting arrest and assaulting police.

 - At 1.45am on Sunday, police spotted a car travelling along Moray Pl without any lights on.

Police stopped the vehicle, and the 20-year-old woman had a breath test.

She recorded a breath alcohol level of 1063mcg, more than four times the legal limit of 250mcg.

She received summons to appear in court at a later date, and her licence was suspended for 28 days.

 - At 11pm on Saturday, police received complaints about the way a vehicle was being driven, travelling south on the Southern Motorway.

The 20-year-old male driver was stopped on the Allanton-Waihola highway and told officers he was on his way to Gore.

He was breath-tested and recorded a reading of 831mcg.

His licence was suspended and he was summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
