Alleged attempt to cut bike tyres

An armed police officer in George St responds to reports of an altercation involving a weapon in the Octagon in central Dunedin about 4.30pm yesterday. Police responded to reports of a person allegedly attempting to cut the tyres of a bike with a knife, a police spokesman said. Officers checked the bus hub and the area around the Woolworths carpark following the report. The alleged offender was later taken into custody after a second incident in Moray Pl about 7.30pm. Charges are being considered, and inquiries are ongoing.
